About
About pages make me nervous. I don’t like being nailed down.
I live in Portland, Maine and always have aside from sojourns here and there.
I studied Classics as an undergrad and went for an MBA a few years later. The day job was always some form of IT up until a few years ago when I began transitioning to genealogy. It’s still problem solving, just a different type of problem.
I want a doctorate in postmodern philosophy or something equally useless but not badly enough to pay for it.
Some things I like in alphabetical order (I hope):
- camping
- food
- genealogy
- hiking that doesn’t involve elevation gain
- noir
- other people, usually
- paddling
- reading
- road trips
- technology
The domain name comes from a line from Aeschylus’ Prometheus Unbound. Prometheus explains to the chorus why Zeus sentenced him to eternal punishment. Prometheus had so pitied mortals that he planted in them blind hopes to prevent them from seeing their fate (death). He had also stolen fire from the gods and given it to humans.
